Yesterday, January 31, 2006, Ghana’s Black Stars disgraced themselves by succumbing to less popular Zimbabwe in the African Cup of Nations. A draw could have even sent us to the quarter finals.

In the wake of the defeat, Ghanaians both home and abroad have as usual began the blame game.

I can only hope that when all is said and done and passions are calm again, the Coach will be left to fix his mistakes and get us ready for the World Cup. We are in a much better position now than we were a month ago. We now know the true conditions on the ground. And we should be very thankful to Zimbabwe for giving us the wake up call.

Coach, just call every good Ghanaian player you know under the sun. Let them come justify their inclusion. You have about 5 months to pick 23 players. Don’t rule out anyone until they have justified their inclusion.

…But don’t waste your time on people like Joetex Frimpong. This is the World Cup, not the Nigerian premier league .

Long live Black Stars. Long live Ghana.
