To every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. — Isaac Newton

You can strip him off the award. It won’t erase the fact that it was awarded to him.
You can paint a negative picture of him. it won’t erase the fact that he’s the best we’ve ever had in a long time.
You can talk about how stupid what he did was. It won’t erase the fact that he was provoked.

Zenedine Zidane is human. It’s sad he didn’t end his career the way he wanted. He was not given the chance to do that… thanks to Materazzi.
To insult someone’s family because he offers to give you his shirt after a game… is pathetic.

If FIFA lets Materazzi go scott free, it will be a big shame to the game. Such acts need to be punished and punished well. If Materazzi is not punished, it will show that FIFA’s noise on anti-racism is a blatant joke.

Sepp, this is not the time to try to rewrite history. Zidane was awarded best player of the tournament. Stripping him off the award won’t change the fact. Please spend your time punishing those who are still playing the game and making it dirty. Don’t waste your breathe on a retired Hero. No matter what you do, he will always be a hero!

So Zidane headbutted Materazzi. So what? It’s about time verbal abuse got punished too. I’d do the same if I were in his shoes. For his entire career he’s had to keep quiet and deal with people doing and talking crap and he’s supposed to be a bigger man because he’s Zidane?

Zidane’s not an animal. He won’t just headbutt someone without being provoked. And the footage shows Materazzi was talking to him. FIFA needs to investigate what Materazzi said and slap a ban on him. If not, next thing you know racist players will be saying crap to our soccer stars.

If I had 10 minutes left in my playing career, the last thing I would want to do is sit down and let some jerk talk crap to me. What’s FIFA going to do? Slap a 4 match ban on him? Great! If you’re smart, you realize he’s sending you a message. It’s time to take officiating in games serious. You cannot put off the fire in a burning home without stopping the gase leakage. Materazzi provoked him. And he got headbutted.

The only thing I feel sorry for is the fact that he left his team in that state. But I have no sympathy for Materazzi or the Azzuri. They won the cup with tricks as usual. Now they should go home to deal with their match fixing tricks!

Still ZIDANE!!!

Lovely day indeed. I’m not sure if this is called North Pond. Nice view from Christian and Catherine’s place. I had to take the shot

What a nice day it’s been today. It was a bit hot earlier but then things cooled a bit. Played soccer briefly and had breakfast with Matt B. who’s on vacation from his Geek Corp assignment in Mali. Later in the day, I ended up at Christian and Catherine’s place with Andrew, Andre and Max. We just watched Germany destroy Portugal in the World Cup 3rd Place game and ended up playing Risk. Of course I was the first to be eliminated — Andre and Max ganged up on me. I headed home afterwards to have my first beer in God knows how long! I still wonder why people like it.
