I completed the following steps prior to installing Windows Sharepoint Services 3.0
1. Install Windows Server 2003 with Service Pack 2
2. Installed IIS components
3. Installed Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1, 2.0 and 3.0
4. Installed SQL Server 2005
